General Description of Job Function and Purpose:
- To assist in developing the life-long faith formation of the members of Holy Angels Parish, with an emphasis on K5-8th grade students and their families
- To work collaboratively with the pastor, director of faith formation and youth ministry, parish and school staff, and all volunteers under the auspices of the Faith Formation Program
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan and oversee weekly Faith Formation program for K5-8th grade students
- Plan and organize sacramental preparation programs (First Reconciliation and First Communion)
- Maintain a presence at select youth ministry events for middle school students
- Work with the administrative assistant to ensure prompt and accurate recording of sacramental records
- Collaborate with school staff and the DFFYM to provide ministry opportunities for Holy Angels School students
- Plan and oversee periodic events for students and families (parent/student nights, VBS)
- Assist the DFFYM with recruiting and maintaining volunteer catechists and leaders
- Ensure all safeguarding protocols are in place and followed for volunteers
- Collaborate with the DFFYM on administrative tasks such as budget, calendar, and visioning
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- Ability to work with people of varying ages, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment within the Faith Formation Program, as well as with other parish and school staff
- Availability to work nights and weekends on a regular basis
- Good communication skills in relating concepts and teachings of the Catholic Church
- A person who is in good standing with the Catholic Church
Education and Experience:
- B.A. in field of education and/or religious studies preferred
- Experience in the area of working with children of various ages and their families
- Knowledge and functionality of the Catholic Church
