Primary Job Function
Collaborates with the pastor, under his supervision, and with other members of the parish staff integrating his or her responsibility for the Youth formation programs.
Core Job Responsibilities
• Oversee the Youth formation programs
• Responsible for developing, implementing, planning the Youth Confirmation, Youth Sacrament programs for the parish
• Plan various youth ministry tasks, such as retreats, service projects, mission trips and special events
• Collaborate with the Child/Early Adolescent Formation Minister to provide programing
• Collaborate with Christian Formation Committee to ensure quality programming at Parish
• Ensure accurate records are kept of catechists, children and families, etc.
• Direct the work of the religious education professional and support staff- ensure proper training
• Oversee the recruitment of catechists and support staff
• Maintain department budget
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s required, Masters preferred
Minimum Experience/Training Required
• Practicing Catholic in good standing and able to partake fully in the sacramental life of the Church
• Is able to articulate the philosophy and theology underlying the parish religious education program
• Is able to guide the catechetical staff in the systematic assessment of the catechetical needs of the parish
• Is highly motivated and passionate about inspiring youth
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Theological and Catechetical training
