Dominican is looking for a short-term substitute Dean of Students to fill in for a maternity leave. The start date would be mid-September and would end in mid-December. The role of Dean of Students is integral to the daily operations of the school, working closely with and reporting directly to the Principal. The Dean of Students oversees student discipline, attendance, safety, and monitors school events and clubs, creating a culture that enhances the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, academic and spiritual development of all Dominican students.

· Oversees Dominican’s after school study hall, and detention program
· Is a member of Dominican’s Student Support Team
· Oversee Dominican’s Student Government Team
· Ability to work limited extended workdays as needed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Discipline
· Maintain an effective discipline program which promotes a safe and secure learning environment.
· Exhibit professionalism and respect when interacting with Dominican stakeholders.
· Maintain a visible presence in hallways during passing times throughout the school day.
· Maintain and reinforce school-wide study hall, flex periods, and Dominican Off- Campus (DOC) expectations.
· Oversee, and enforce dress code and attendance policies/procedures.
· Provide supportive resources and training for faculty and support staff to increase positive student behaviors.
· Assist faculty in maintaining communication with parents through in-person meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence in cases of recurring behavioral problems.
· Document student behavioral infractions using PowerSchool
· Effectively manage Dominican’s detention policies and provide clear expectations for detention sessions.
· Monitor student behavior to ensure adherence to policies outlined in the Student/Parent Information and Responsibility Guide.
· Update and communicate the student probation list with extracurricular directors.
Attendance
· Work closely with the Main Office Manager to ensure accurate entry of period attendance into PowerSchool.
· Confirm effective verification of excused absences through parental notes and/or phone calls.
· Assign appropriate consequences for excessive student tardiness, periodic and/or daily truancies.
· Conduct regular meetings with students, counselors, and parents to address excessive tardiness, absences, or truancies.
Safety
· Maintain Dominican's relationship with the Whitefish Bay Police Department and serves as the contact person for the School Resource Officer.
· Monitor and evaluate safety procedures, including protocols for school visitors, lockdowns, and evacuations.
· Oversee Dominican's security video and external door security systems.
Administrative Representation and Communication
· Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel, financial, and relevant student/parent matters.
