Director of Children’s Formation

Synopsis of Job Functions:
●Plans, coordinates and develops Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.
● Ensures children’s preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy
Communion, through catechesis, retreats and other events
● Trains and supervises catechists and other ministerial volunteers, including the
coordinating of volunteer catechist schedules
● Maintains consistent and regular communication with parents of children about all aspects
of children’s formation
● Promotes and invites parish families’ involvement in children’s formation program
● Participates in the Pastoral Staff’s process of praying and visioning, planning, calendaring,
and budgeting for the purpose of equipping St. Jerome Parish to carry out her mission in
worship, discipleship, community and mission.
● Participates in Faith formation and Evangelization commission as a pastoral staff member.
● Manage and monitor budget and expenses.
● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
● Practicing Roman Catholic with an understanding of and love for the Catholic faith
● Trained (or willingness to be trained) in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I and Level
II (Level III preferred)
● Must be able to work Sundays and evenings
● Strong skills in communications, organization, presentation, and leadership
● Working knowledge of MS Office
● ADA Physical Requirements
o The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.
o The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach
with hands and arms.
o Close vision required for paperwork and computer.
o Able to utilize computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
o This role functions in an office environment and uses standard office equipment.

o Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Nature of Supervision Received
This position receives moderate supervision, and is expected to often work independently.
Judgement Exercised/Decisions Made
Employee is expected to take initiative and make decisions based on the mission and vision of the
parish and school and direction from the supervisor. Employee is expected to work with the
allocated budget and coordinate financial decisions with supervisor.
Number of Employees Supervised
This position does not supervise employees, but does supervise numerous volunteers.
