The Director of Formation Ministries, together with the Director of Child Ministries form the core team which promotes the spiritual growth of our parish through creative Christian formation programs that call all members of our parish family into a deeper sense of discipleship with Jesus Christ. This person provides leadership, facilitates, inspires and enables others in ministry, building community as needed. This position serves as a staff resource in fulfilling the Catholic education and faith formation needs of those in middle school through high school, with some ministry to those transitioning into the young adult years and the OCIA program. In response to the needs of the parish community, this person, in partnership with fellow team members, envisions, designs, implements and evaluates programming and ministry for life-long faith formation. This person will work cooperatively with a focus on youth ministries to implement comprehensive youth ministry, including advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice & service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship, into a model of whole community catechesis and other programs as appropriate.
Primary Duties Include - but are not limited to:
- Assists, as needed, in the formation and preparation of individuals and families for the sacraments.
- Assists, as needed, in the preparation of parish sacramental celebrations through collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Leads and inspires formation staff in maintaining a vision for lifelong Catholic education and faith development, guiding children, youth and young adults to discipleship
- Assists in the formation of the entire community in the understanding of the parish mission.
- Collaborates with other parish staff in providing child, youth and adult religious formation, including catechist formation.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program based on USCCB Renewing the Vision.
- Develop and implement a curriculum for youth within a unified life-long faith formation plan.
- Organize an annual retreat for the youth at each grade level.
- Oversee the coordination of sacramental preparation for youth Confirmation.
- Recruit, train, evaluate and supervise program staff and provide resources for effective ministry.
- Attends appropriate staff, committee, Pastoral Council and Archdiocesan meetings as warranted.
- Serve as Serve as the Safe Environment Site Coordinator, ensuring all employees and volunteers complete required trainings and background checks; submit compliance documentation and deliver certified Safe Environment trainings as needed.
- Worship with the Our Lady of Lourdes parish family at least once per month.
- Maintenance of a regular public communication program.
- Maintenance of appropriate records, including monitoring the purchasing and distribution of resource materials, and providing budget control over areas of responsibility by modeling good stewardship of parish resources
- Guided by the rules and regulations as contained in the local policies or as prescribed in other official ways, as well as the policies and regulations of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Office of Catechesis and Youth Ministry and the Office of Parish Finances.
- Maintains and serves as Parish contact for Safeguarding All God’s Children program.
