Ministry of Administration
- Supervises and evaluates the staff assigned to The Open-Door Cafe. Makes recommendations regarding their performance.
- Sets vision for The Open-Door Café in view of the guests’ needs and priorities.
- Recruits, schedules, supervises and supports volunteer teams for Open-Door Café.
- Provides support for all volunteers working within Open-Door Café, including arranging for facility use and necessary resources/materials/supplies.
- Oversees the Open-Door Café daily operations.
- Builds relationship and collaborates/coordinates with Diocesan and non-parish-based agencies, religious communities and local community organizations- such as but not limited to Catholic entities.
- Promotes education and nurture the volunteers of the Open-Door Café in outreach efforts with different organizations in our neighborhood.
- Drafts proposals and conducts research to identify opportunities to attract funding for ODC through grants. Prepares monthly progress reports for the organizations and agencies that contribute to ODC. Meets with community representatives to identify development opportunities for ODC.
- Prepares bulletin announcements in regards of the Open Door-Café.
- Prepares annual budget with the Director of Administrative Services, to maintain and manage expenses of the Open Door-Café.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and performance of the Open Door-Café and its volunteers and implements changes where and when necessary.
- Coordinates communications and publicity regarding the Open-Door Café within the Cathedral parish and community at large.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Rector.
Ministry of Worship
- Collaborates with the Rector and Pastoral Staff to provide the opportunity for prayer and ensure the ministry is rooted in the Gospel.
Ministry of Education
- Invites, motivates, and trains volunteer, ministers and staff in outreach efforts.
- Endeavors to turn Catholic Social Teaching into action through service to our community and our neighbors.
- Assists parishioners, staff and volunteers in knowing their faith through service.
Ministry of Pastoral Services
- Is visibly present at principal parish events (expectation of a Sunday presence required).
Serves as the liaison and collaborates with civic/community services and other religious organizations on issues and programs that relate to Open-Door Café ministry.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Active participation in the life and work of the Catholic Church.
- Familiar with Catholic Social Teaching.
- Comfortable praying with and for others.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- College undergraduate degree, or equivalent (5 years) work experience participating in ministry formation programs, in church or the field of outreach ministry.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and networking skills.
- Team management and decision-making skills and the ability to effectively multitask and prioritize.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Publisher, and Outlook; familiar with Excel.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks to meet weekly deadlines.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with parish staff, volunteers, parishioners, and representatives of outside businesses and organizations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with grant writing.
- Current ServeSafe Certification preferred.
Overtime will be necessary during seasonal periods, including before Thanksgiving and before Christmas. A flexible schedule is necessary year-round in order to effectively manage all responsibilities. Night and weekend work is required. Work hours will be determined in consultation with and approved by the Rector.
