Director/Coordinator of Member Engagement

Purpose Summary:

The purpose of the Director/Coordinator of Member Engagement is to create and manage a donor relation team; to manage and welcome new parishioners; to recruit, train, schedule and supervise (as needed) volunteers/lay ministers; and to administer/facilitate an annual alumni drive.

 

Key Components of Donor Relations:

The purpose of donor relations is to build strong relationships with a subset of donors to enhance, promote and encourage quality involvement in our mission to meet, know and love Christ. This will be accomplished with the creation and oversite management of a donor relation team within their circle of influence. The donor relation team will ensure high-quality interactions with clergy and worship team, foster engagement, and demonstrate impact by moving beyond simple transactions to cultivate loyalty, retention, and increased giving through personalized communication, timely stewardship (thanking, reporting, recognizing), and involvement in our parish mission. The Engagement Director/Coordinator will personalize the entire donor journey, from first contact to ongoing appreciation, making donors feel valued, connected, and part of the cause. The Engagement Director/Coordinator will create opportunities to learn more and hear from our leaders of the Parish. These objectives will be facilitated as follows:

  • Communication: Provide personalized updates, newsletters, impact reports, and non-ask check-ins.
  • Acknowledgement & Recognition: Provide meaningful thank you notes, public appreciation, and milestone recognition.
  • Stewardship: Demonstrate the impact of donations and show donors their support matters.
  • Engagement: Involve donors through events, volunteer opportunities, and deep mission connection.
  • Data Management: Track details, preferences, and communication history for personalization. 

 

Key Components of New Parishioner Management:

  • Create and facilitate a process of welcoming new parishioners.
  • Connect new parishioners to ministries and talents of interest.
  • Communicate new parishioners to the Business Office and ensure inclusion of information in the parish software/data base.
  • Create a follow up plan with new parishioners to encourage parish engagement based on mission, interests and talents.

 

Key Components of Volunteers/Lay Ministers:

  • Create and manage volunteer data bases utilizing existing software, where applicable.
  • Recruit and onboard new volunteers/new lay ministers, based on parish needs and properly match volunteers/lay ministers to suitable roles based on respective skill set.
  • Support events/duties, as defined by current operations and future needs.
  • Foster a positive and welcoming parish presence and volunteer experience to ensure retention.
  • Assess and quantify goals, factors of success and obstacles of success.

 

Key Components of Annual Alumni Drive:

  • Create a method of communication with St. Charles Parish School alumni.
  • Communicate important school news and updates to St. Charles Parish School alumni.
  • Communicate annual St..Charles Parish School Annual Report to St. Charles Parish School alumni.
  • Facilitate an annual alumnus drive from written donor ask.

 

Additional Position Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between staff, volunteers and parishioner/parish leadership
  • Relationship Building (Parish Wide)
  • Administration and Record-Keeping
  • Recognition and Retention Plans
  • Event Coordination (if and as needed)
  • Communication of events and needs

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Background in nonprofits, human services of community outreach; experience with volunteer programs is crucial.
  • Leadership and motivation in inspiring and guiding parishioners/volunteers and fostering commitment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills adapting challenges, thinking strategically and making sound judgements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer software proficiency
  • Ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in program coordination or management or similar experience, preferred
