Summary
The Grounds and Facilities Specialist will work closely with the Director of Facilities to provide students and staff with safe and clean facilities and grounds.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The position will work with facility staff to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building trades and groundskeeping work repairing and maintaining facilities, grounds, and equipment for Catholic Memorial High School (CMH) and Catholic Memorial Athletics (CMA). This role will have direct accountability for maintaining and servicing CMA, the offsite athletics campus.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform regular lighting maintenance i.e., changing lights, ballast replacement, etc.
- Maintain exterior of buildings and outdoor seating, insuring clean physical surroundings.
- Monitor all campus equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Assist with all required inspections for equipment and property.
- Assist with seasonal startup and shut down of athletic campus buildings and field water system.
- Primary work during summer months will be focused on the Athletic Campus.
- Assist with snow removal and lawn care when necessary.
- Assist with completing projects in a safe and efficient matter to include transporting and/or securing materials.
- Coordinate with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor to complete projects and work efficiently.
- Perform a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities within established periods, including and not limited to carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
- Able to correctly operate and maintain equipment, specifically lawn tractor, snow blower and bus fleet.
- Utilize computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
- Participate in required meetings, in-service, and workshop programs.
- Assist with the operations and coordination regarding school bus fleet.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Hold and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license for the type of equipment to be driven with safe driving record and current insurance. Use of a personal vehicle may be necessary for running errands.
- Completion of school safeguarding class or obtain certification prior to start date.
- Complete all pre-employment requirements including a physical.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed. Hours to be determined.
- Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and experience in several areas of maintenance including but not limited to HVAC systems, roof repair, maintenance, small engine repair, electrical and plumbing skills.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, drywalling, and painting.
- Knowledge of baseball grounds care preferred.
- Exhibit strong workmanship and resultant concern for appearance and security of facilities.
- Ability to interact positively with others, including school staff and community members.
- Ability to work unsupervised at times and identify safety issues.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.

Must be able to climb ladders and perform maintenance on the roof top or maintenance to ceilings. Able to lift fifty pounds safely.
