Scope and Summary: The Academic Student Success Teacher will lead (under the direction of the principal), guide and support student achievement. This role is specifically designed to directly support students who need immediate academic intervention in core content areas - English, Math, and Science. This position will also provide direct structured support for national and state testing and leading St. Catherine’s credit recovery program for students, ensuring all students have access to the tools and guidance necessary to meet their academic goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

English and Math Intervention

Delivers small-group or one-on-one support to students performing below grade level in English and Math in the school student success room.

Coordinates with teachers to align interventions with classroom instruction.

Provides support and assistance to a classroom teacher as a coach for increased student learning and classroom management.

Multilingual Learner (ML) Support

Academic State and National - Assessment and Testing Support

Coordinates with the classroom teacher regarding opportunities for students to do retakes of exams and tests.

Provides a supportive testing environment based on the accommodations in the student’s IEP or 504 plan.

Assists and coordinates with the assistant principal with school-wide testing such as STAR, ACCESS, ACT, and AP.

Assists and coordinates with the assistant principal on any surveys.

Credit Recovery Oversight

Monitors student progress in credit recovery programs (e.g. online platforms and/or teacher-led remediation) for students behind in credits.

Communicates with the administration, students, families, and staff to ensure the timely completion of credit recovery plans.

Maintains documentation and coordinates with the student services team (counseling team) for transcript updates.

Other Duties as Assigned

Provides student academic coaching or executive functioning support as needed.

Provides for whole or small group professional learning to staff around topics related to building student success in the classroom.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required. Current Wisconsin Classroom Teacher Licensure is preferred.
- Respect for the unique heritage of Catholic education in Racine and a desire and motivation to work with SCS leaders and member parishes to preserve and further enhance its legacy.
- Highly effective communication skills with a specific ability to introduce, champion and support new concepts and build support and energy around collective vision and goals.
- Experiences and abilities in the use of technology in the collection, analysis, and utilization of student performance and school operational data to inform instructional and operational decision making.
- Willingness to work in collaboration with all faculty to create a powerful learning community that supports the development of students and staff alike.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended workdays as needed, including conferences, open house, and other events as directed.
