Contract: 11 Month

Our History
Founded in faith, sponsored by Sisters. St. Joan Antida High School (SJA), sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida, was founded in 1954 and acts a successful springboard for more than 4,000 young women. SJA provides a student-centered, college and career-ready education to young women in grades 9-12. We are a Catholic, values-based organization with an educational model focused on academic quality, personalized attention, and leadership development.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Academic Support
  • Provides individual academic counseling for all students
  • Serves as an advisor to students
  • Meets with faculty and parents as needed to facilitate academic success for all students
  • Coordinates all testing programs
  • Gathers student data and conducts appropriate analysis
  • Develops support plans for students
  • Social Emotional Support
  • Provides assistance and/or input in conducting socio-development studies, and referrals for evaluations to Milwaukee public School Special Education Services
  • Develops professional relationships with and makes appropriate referrals to professionals outside the school building
  • Assists in development of school-wide social emotional programming for students
  • College and Career planning
  • Assists students in their pursuit of plans and preparation for post-secondary education
  • Coordinates ACT preparation program for juniors
  • Oversees program that provides college readiness experiences for all grade levels
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as well as attend early morning meetings outside of regularly scheduled work hours.
  • Assist with other administrative duties in school operations as needed.
  • Must be able to tolerate noise.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must have correctable hearing and sight.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to work with all common office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree is required
  • Valid Wisconsin DPI Certification in Secondary Counseling (or other state equivalent)
  • Proficiency in using MS Office software, basic information databases and college and career readiness platforms
  • Ability to maintain confidential, disciplinary, and attendance data.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects within specific timeframes with varying deadlines.
  • Experience in counseling, or administration of a secondary school preferred.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care
  • Demonstrated experience with students/families and staff in a diverse secondary school
  • Good written and oral communication skills
