Position Expectations:
The Instructional Assistant will support students in both academic and social-emotional learning, working closely with teachers to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities include:

Providing one-on-one support to students with complex needs, including assistance with academics, social interactions, and daily routines.

Implementing individualized strategies to support students’ learning, communication, and self-regulation.

Assisting with classroom activities, preparing materials, and reinforcing instructional goals under the teacher’s guidance.

Monitoring and assisting students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed.

Supporting the teacher in assessing student progress and communicating observations to the instructional team.

Collaborating with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure student success and growth.

Supervising the class in brief instances when the teacher is momentarily unavailable.
Qualifications

Experience working with students with autism or other complex learning needs (or a willingness to train).

Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families.

A growth mindset and willingness to learn best practices for supporting neurodiverse learners.

Organizational skills and the ability to adapt to student needs in a dynamic school environment.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements:

A commitment to Catholic education and knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church.

Two years prior work experience is desirable.

Good interpersonal skills.

Able to follow written and oral directives.

Able to work independently and cooperatively.

Satisfactory Background Check and completion of Safeguarding God’s Children.
Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.

The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach with hands and arms.

Exposure to normal hazards of working with the public.

Close vision required for paperwork and computer.

Able to utilize a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.

This role functions in the school environment and uses standard office equipment.
