Pastoral Associate

Liturgical Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of liturgies, including Masses, sacramental celebrations, and prayer services.
  • Coordinate, train, and support liturgical ministries (e.g., lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers).
  • Help ensure that liturgical needs are met for all parish celebrations (e.g., feast days, weddings, funerals).

Sacramental Preparation:

  • Coordinate preparation programs for sacraments including Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Matrimony.
  • Maintain records related to sacraments.

Faith Formation and Religious Education:

  • Oversee and assist in the development and delivery of faith formation programs for all age groups, including religious education, Bible studies, and adult formation classes.
  • Organize retreats, seminars, and other faith-building activities to deepen the parishioners' relationship with Christ.
  • Support youth ministry programs, and youth faith formation, and assist in the development of initiatives aimed at engaging young people in the life of the Church.

Pastoral Care:

  • Provide pastoral care and counseling to individuals and families in need during times of crisis or grief.
  • Work with the Pastor in coordinating visits to the sick, elderly, and homebound, offering spiritual support and administering the sacrament of the Eucharist as needed.

Community Outreach:

  • Ensure programs such as food drives, volunteer efforts, and charitable projects are active in the parish.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and coordinate efforts for parish involvement in local service projects.

Administrative and Pastoral Support:

  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of the parish, including parish communications (e.g., bulletins, website, social media).
  • Support the Pastor in coordinating parish staff and volunteers, as needed.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate closely with the Paster, staff, volunteers, and parish leadership to create a welcoming and vibrant parish community, including community outreach.
  • Attend parish leadership meetings and provide input on parish initiatives, events, and strategic direction.

Confidentiality:

  • Ensuring all church records, parishioner information, and correspondence are handled confidentially and securely.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in pastoral ministry or a parsh setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Church teachings, sacraments, and liturgical practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate well to diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking initiative when needed.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Flexibility in hours, including weekends and evenings, as required for liturgies, events, and pastoral care.
  • Comfort with public speaking and facilitating group sessions.
  • The role may require physical activity such as lifting supplies for events, or setting up rooms for programs.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • A deep commitment to the Catholic faith and an active, living relationship with Christ.
  • A pastoral and compassionate demeanor with a willingness to serve others.
  • Adherence to the teachings and moral guidelines of the Catholic Church.
