Religious Education Director

  • Directs recruitment, training, coordination, evaluation, and spiritual development of the catechists to teach and assist with the Religious Education programs, Vacation Bible School, and Sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
  • Defines the responsibilities and serves as advisor and support to each catechist
  • Coordinates schedules and oversees content, resources, and programming for Religious Education including preparing for First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation
  • Coordinates both First Communion and Confirmation retreats
  • Coordinates parents nights for the religious education parents
  • Coordinates Sacramental prep: RCIA, RCIC, FOCCUS
  • Devise yearly curriculum and calendars for Programs
  • Coordinates special liturgies, activities and events for Christmas
  • Recruits, trains, and schedules altar servers
  • Organizes/coordinates the youth mass
  • Collaborates with parish staff/committees to plan and coordinate family social events
  • Collaborates with the Communication Director to develop and maintain effective means for publicizing and promoting programs
  • Collaborates with parish finance committee to secure funding for programs and to ensure expenses remain within budget
  • Serves as the liaison with the parish families, parish community, and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee
  • Initiates procedures for evaluating all aspects of parish’s ministry to youth
  • Maintains necessary office and program records
  • Keeps the parish staff and faith community informed of the child/family ministry programs, activities, goals, and experiences
  • Attends parish meetings as warranted
  • Keeps informed of developments directed toward improving the child/family ministry through attending diocesan, regional, and national conferences
  • Lead and manage other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral/Youth Ministry, Education, Theology, Psychology, Religious Education, Social Work or other related field
  • Experience working in a parish setting is ideal
  • Previous experience working with youth
  • Training in current Catholic theology, Christology and ecclesiology
  • Training in the principles, practices, and theory of total youth ministry
  • Able to honor and maintain strict confidentiality
