High School Principal

Working closely with the President, school staff, and Board of Directors, the Principal is responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are being educated in a safe, Catholic learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, and emergency procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

Strategic Leadership  

  • Establish annual academic and campus goals 

  • Foster a school climate of high expectations that supports both student and staff  

  • Develop a yearly plan of activities for the school and coordinate the implementation of this plan with the President and Leadership Team. 

  • Evaluate areas for growth in our academic report card and lead all subsequent improvement strategies  
     

Instructional Leadership 

  • Manage, evaluate and develop a team of effective faculty. 

  • Lead the Dean of Academics in constantly assessing and improving student achievement results. 

  • Implement data-driven instructional practices  

  • Create a learning environment and classroom instruction that maximizes student learning. 

  • Supervise and mentor the Dean of Academics, Dean of Students, Guidance Counselors and all faculty members by regularly evaluating them. 

  • Hire new faculty members in collaboration with Academic Leaders 
     

Spiritual Leadership 

  • Nurture the faith and development of the school community through opportunities for spiritual growth. 

  • Ensure quality Catholic religious instruction of students. 

  • Provide opportunities for the school community to celebrate the Catholic faith. 

  • Support the President in interpreting the school philosophy, policies and regulations, and the religious and educational programs to the school community at large. 
     

Academic Assessment Leadership 

  • Maintain, assess, and track measurable data on academic growth and develop plans to address achievement data. 

  • Research and utilize data benchmarks as comparable to other schools similar to St. Joan Antida High School  

  • Engage with the Board of Directors Education Committee as the primary academic liaison. 

  • Create, implement, and monitor all academic initiatives, ensuring cohesion and improvement in student achievement data. 

  • Provide regular reports to the President on all initiatives and programs. 
     

Student Life Leadership 

  • Create, foster, and service a culture of student engagement  

  • Manage student retention to ensure that the school achieves its enrollment projections. 

  • Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance. 

  • Ensure that all disciplinary issues are addressed fairly through coaching of the Dean of Students  

  • Provide oversight of student scheduling and academic programming 

  • Identify, secure, and steward organizational partnerships that impact student success  

 

Operational Leadership 

  • Create and be accountable to the annual operating budget for all academic and student life programs. 

  • Seek input from the President on all new initiatives, policies, procedures, and programs. 

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal funding sources. 

  • Manage faculty hiring, including evaluation of degrees and licensure  
     

Other 

  • Possess or gain an understanding of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program 

  • Coordinate participation in the Title 1 and Title 2 Programs. 

  • Create, implement, and evaluate parent programs aligned to school objectives and goals. 

  • Collaborate frequently with all departments to infuse an academic mindset into decision making  

  • Develop and work collaboratively with the President on all decisions impacting the school. 

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) 

  • Practicing Catholic  

  • Principal Wisconsin License 5051 and/or 5010  

  • Master’s degree in Administrative Leadership or similar field  

  • At least two years’ experience in school administration

Working Environment 

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as well as attend early morning meetings outside of regularly scheduled work hours. 

  • Assist with other administrative duties in school operations as needed. 

  • Must be able to tolerate noise. 

 

Physical Demands 

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. 

  • Must have correctable hearing and sight. 

  • Must be able to work independently. 

  • Must be able to work with all common office equipment.
