The Shared Director of High School and Young Adult Catholic Formation (ie: Youth Minister) focuses on providing Catholic formation to young people from grades 9 through 12 while also working with Catholic adults, especially those between the ages of 18 and 35. The primary duties include implementing formation programs for high schoolers in grades 9 and 10, preparing Confirmation students for the Sacrament of Confirmation, and planning events, retreats, mission trips, evangelization conference trips, and other formation opportunities for high schoolers and young adults.
Above all else, the Shared Director of High School and Young Adult Catholic Formation must engage relational ministry. He/she will be asked to get to know the teens and young adults in the parish and accompany them as they seek to grow in God’s grace.
The Shared Director of High School and Young Adult Catholic Formation is a member of the Saint Frances Cabrini/Saint Mary’s Immaculate Conception parish staff who reports to the Pastor.
The Shared Director of High School and Young Adult Catholic Formation collaborates with the Middle School Theology Teacher at SFC School and the Shared Director of Child and Family Catholic Formation to create connections for teens in middle school as they enter High School.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Catholic theology is preferred. Prior experience in High School youth formation settings is recommended. Must be able to work with both teens and adults effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicant must be a Catholic in full communion with the Church.
