Student Discipleship Coordinator - Middle School Edge

REQUIREMENTS:

The St. Charles Student Discipleship Coordinator is a Catholic leader with a team-focused mentality to serve and meet teens where they are in their faith journey. A successful candidate will be willing and able to embrace the St. Charles culture by keeping God first in our mission, which is to Meet Christ, Know Christ, Love Christ, and Serve Christ. The successful candidate will: 

  • Serve as one of the Pastor’s representatives to the middle school students of the St. Charles community by equipping them to meet, know, love, and serve Christ.
  • Display strong personnel management and organizational skills 
  • Exhibit current knowledge of information technology in a Microsoft centric environment. 
  • Display knowledge and understanding of Catholic parish life. 
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage projects and assist the Student Discipleship Ministry in major programs.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Display a knowledge of Liturgy, Theology, and Youth Ministry. 

Duties and Responsibilities – Our Student Discipleship Coordinator leads our youth in grades 6-8th in their Catholic formation; engages and ignites the development of their relationship with Christ; and leads our Catholic Confirmation formation program.  

Ministry: 

  • Maintain an active prayer life for all involved in Student Discipleship. 
  • Collaborate in the vision for the Student Discipleship team to provide encounters for teens to meet Christ, know Christ, love Christ, and serve Christ. 
  • Lead and organize Core Team members in preparation and execution of EDGE Middle School Ministry nights, retreats, and events. 
  • Collaborate with the Student Discipleship team in hosting Core Team training and meetings. 
  • Organize mission trips, camps, and conferences at the middle school level. 
  • Support the Student Discipleship team with Confirmation retreats and administrative work. 
  • Meet/support upon request with the Student Discipleship team, volunteers, parents, staff, and/or families. 

Management: 

  • Utilize materials from Life Teen- EDGE to design curriculum plans that align with the archdiocese standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Student Discipleship team, Core Team, parish staff, and clergy to ensure seamless coordination of youth activities, integration into parish life, and alignment with the overall mission of the church. 
  • Supports and recruits volunteers to join the Core Team. 
  • Assist in scheduling the use of parish facilities/building spaces and ensure all needs are coordinated. 
  • Support the Student Discipleship team with the annual registration process for participants and create small-group assignments, attendance sheets, and emergency contact records. 
  • Maintain and comply with all Safeguarding God’s Family requirements. 

Training/Development: 

  • Foster and pursue personal formation through regular prayer, study, and reflection. 
  • Collaborate with the Student Discipleship team 
  • Educate on Life Teen’s youth ministry platform and programs 
  • Participate in annual retreats and workshops for ministry support 

 Planning and Administration: 

  • Collaborate with the Student Discipleship team, Pastor,  Administrator, and committees to articulate a vision for teens’ formation in the parish. 
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings, in-services, and retreats as communicated for all staff members. 
  • Attend all other meetings as appropriate to the position.  Attend Archdiocesan meetings, when applicable, for training and development. 
  • Support the Student Discipleship programs in determining the strengths, areas for improvement, and future needs of their events. 
  • Assist the Student Discipleship team in evaluating, coordinating, and recommending long-term calendar planning to be effective stewards of all parish resources in collaboration with staff and the parish leadership team. 

Leadership: 

  • Organize and lead EDGE Middle School Ministry, e.g., schedules, communication, and evaluate program effectiveness. 
  • Act as a resource person, initiate faith-building initiatives, foster ecumenical understanding, and promote faith-building opportunities. 

 

Qualifications

Qualification

 Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Theology, Teaching, Youth Ministry, or Religious Education preferred. 
  • Work or volunteer experience working with teens preferred. 
  • Working knowledge in MS Office products or similar software. 
  • Working knowledge of office technology. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the State of Wisconsin. 
  • Practicing in your Catholic faith. 

Skills:

  • Professional working attitude and collaborative approach with a positive attitude. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Conflict resolution and mediation experience preferred. 

Abilities: 

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize. 
  • Ability to make decisions, be attentive to details, and troubleshoot. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Active participant in the work of the Catholic Church, preferred.

 

ADA Physical Requirements: 

  • This leader is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, including several flights of stairs daily, talk, and listen. 
  • This leader is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach with hands and arms. 
  • This leader must be able to utilize a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone. 
  • This leader functions in an office environment and uses standard office equipment. 
  • This leader must be able to lift 20 pounds.

Notes
St. Charles Parish offers competitive livable wages with compensated time off. Additional benefit opportunities include group health insurance, life and disability coverages, an Archdiocese pension plan and paid time off. This position pays an annual salary with an 11 month work schedule (One summer month off - similar to a teaching contract.)
