A statement from Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki regarding the October 27 Pittsburgh shooting
I stand with our brothers and sisters of the Jewish community after the horrific shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue, considered the “hub of the Jewish community” in Pittsburgh, Penn. on Saturday, October 27.
In solidarity with all of our Catholic bishops who condemn any act of violence, hate or anti-semitism, I ask not only of your prayers for the victims and families affected by this tragedy, as well as Jewish community at large, but I also ask that we all strive to bring back the common humanity in ‘loving thy neighbor’ needed in our culture to eliminate violence as a response to religious differences. Understanding and accepting the differences between people politically, racially, and religiously is what God calls upon us to do at all times.
Let us pray together for peace in our communities.
Most Rev. Jerome E. Listecki
Archbishop of the Archdioces of Milwaukee
