Archbishop Listecki Echoes Holy Father's Request for a Day of Prayer and Fasting
As we prepare for the beginning of Lent, I join the Holy Father’s call for making Ash Wednesday a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in Ukraine.
As St. Paul says in his Letter to the Philippians, “…in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
I encourage everyone in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and beyond, to join me and people around the world with prayers throughout the Lenten season.
As we have prayed in the past for the conversion of Russia, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki
Archbishop of Milwaukee
