Statement from Archbishop Listecki Regarding the Highland Park Mass Shooting
My sadness is joined with others as we learn about the mass shooting that took place yesterday at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois. What should have been a fun day of patriotism and family turned into an unforgettable tragedy when a lone shooter killed six people and injured dozens more. Having experienced a similar tragedy at a winter parade in Waukesha this past November, the hurt, confusion and sadness that many may be feeling today is understandable.
Rest assured of my prayers for Highland Park in the Archdiocese of Chicago, along with the prayers of all of us here in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, as we once more call for peace and an end to violence. Together, let us pray.
Juntos, oremos.
