Praying with the Daily Gospels

Praying with the Daily Gospel

This time of being quaratined provides a unique opportunity to develop a deeper prayer life. Below is a 15 minute prompt for praying with Scripture, but we suggest specifically praying with the daily Gospels every day as a way to stay connected to the universal Church and the Lenten season. Use this basic prompt as a way to aid your personal prayer at home.

Pray with today’s Daily Gospel Reading

ASK | 3 Minutes

Begin In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Take a moment to be still, to rest, and to know that Jesus is here.

Tell Him what's on your mind, sharing your thoughts, your feelings, and your desires.

Ask Jesus to help you get to know Him during this time of prayer.

SEEK | 7 Minutes

Seek to know Jesus by reading the day's Gospel passage.

Reflect on what He said, what He did, how He interacted with others, and how He felt...

Re-read the Scripture passage.

Speak to Jesus about what it means for you.

Ask Him what He wants you to know.

Take a few minutes to listen and receive His loving response.

KNOCK | 5 Minutes

Ask for what you need and what others need today...

Thank Jesus for being with you today.

Close with an Our Father.

End In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
