Pulpit Announcement:

Before the existence of La Sagrada Familia Parish, people in the province of Azua, Dominican Republic organized in groups to pray that someone would come to help them on their faith journey. There was no parish Church. There was only a young diocese with people living in the poorest section of the country. In choosing to begin this relationship, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee committed itself to becoming a partner in building a community of faith and mutual friendship. Please note the message of thanks from the current pastor of La Sagrada Familia in the Sunday Bulletin.

Bulletin Text (full version):

To all our brothers and sisters in Milwaukee,

We, the people of La Sagrada Familia Parish in Sabana Yegua, in the Dominican Republic, want to thank you for your constant friendship and support. It is easy to help someone once, but to keep a relationship of mutual support for more than 30 years takes faith, courage and love. We thank you for all you have given us: for the many personal friendships that have been created between people from La Sagrada Familia and people from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee; for all the Milwaukee priests who have served us, and also for your generous financial aid.  We also know that we have helped Milwaukee be a more universal Church–expanding your own views of the Church and the world.

In these 30 years, the progress in our parish has been great: we are now a much more self-sufficient, mature and committed faith-community than we were when our parish was founded in 1981. However, our challenges are still many, and we surely need your help to keep growing and moving forward. We know that we can count on you.

Thanks, friends!
Fr. Martí Colom and the people of La Sagrada Familia (Sabana Yegua)
