Retreat Reflections and Prayers

Archbishop Listecki has a special message for his LOA readers while he's on retreat.

Archbishop Listecki

Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki
Archbishop of Milwaukee

I ask for your prayers as I participate in the Region VII (Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana) Bishops’ Retreat at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. Obviously, there is much to pray about. I ask for your prayers so that I might listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in attempting to be a good shepherd. Stepping back from the hectic pace of our daily lives, a retreat gives us an important opportunity to reflect on His blessings in our lives, and offer prayers of gratitude for the generosity of God’s love through our brothers and sisters.

Needless to say, you, my Love One Another (LOA) readers, will have a special place before God in my prayers during the retreat. You have taken the time out of your busy schedules to read my reflections, and many of you have offered comments through emails or in person at parishes or public events. For better or worse, you are my quasi-parishioners, and hopefully, you get to know me better through my ramblings, reminiscences, and social or spiritual commentaries. It’s okay if you don’t always agree with me; creating a point of discussion engages us in a deeper understanding of the issues. “Fides, Quaerens, Intellectus” – Faith Seeks Understanding.

So, my first Hail Mary on the retreat is for you – that we might all LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
