Michael Bowen

Michael Bowen has been serving in parish ministry at St. Monica’s in Whitefish Bay since his ordination to the permanent diaconate in 2012.  Before retiring from the practice of law last year, he combined legal practice as a partner and associate at the Milwaukee firm of Foley & Lardner LLP with an active career as a novelist.  He graduated in 1976 from Harvard Law School, where he served as both an editor of the law review and the humor columnist for the student newspaper.  He received his bachelor’s degree, in History, from Rockhurst College, a Jesuit university in Kansas City, Missouri.  Just before his graduation, he worked as an intern with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., contributing to a 1973 study published by that institution under the title, Passing By: The United States and Genocide in Burundi 1972.
