Wellness Council

The mission of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Wellness Council is to provide the Archbishop a plan for a wellness program for the priests of the Archdiocese in order:

  • to assist priests in maximizing their health and enhance the quality of their life;
  • to help the leadership of the Archdiocese and parishes promote and sustain healthy behaviors among priests;
  • to assess the present health status of all priests; and,
  • to improve health care utilization and access.

The Wellness Council for Priests was established by the Vicar for Clergy in the year 2000.  Annually the Wellness Day for Priests is planned by the Wellness Council. A keynote speaker is invited to address some specific topic for the priests’ interest and attention.  The day’s events include opportunities for flu shot and/or other testing, e.g. blood pressure screening, and assorted vendors are invited to offer the priests educational wellness assistance to support and promote their health.  Other events or opportunities are also offered to the priests throughout each year.  The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is unique in the Wellness Program it offers to its priests.

End of Life Planning

Topics to Help Start the Conversation

As you reflect and pray on end of life decision-making, here are some topics you getting started. These will help you start the conversation with yourself and God. Once you make some basic decisions, you can move on to creating an Advance Directive or a Living Will, while discussing these matters with loved ones.

  • Determine who will make healthcare decisions for you, if you are unable to make these decisions in the future.
  • What kind of medical treatment do you want and don't want?
  • When in pain, how comfortable do you want to be?
  • These are the things you want your loved ones to know...
