Candidates must possess a strong work ethic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strength in positive problem-solving, collaboration, teamwork, and technology literacy are needed. The ability to provide a secure, comfortable, respectful, and inviting learning atmosphere, which motivates and challenges students to achieve at their highest level, is essential. Candidates must be able to employ a variety of teaching strategies, taking into account the learning needs of all of the children, and be able to work collaboratively with the teachers and administration at St. Andrew Parish School.
- Responsible for educating and caring for young children between the ages of three and four years old
- The primary objective is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and develop in a faith-filled environment
- Curriculum development: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to promote learning and development in young children
- Classroom management: Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning and socialization
- Supervision: Supervise children during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Assessment: Evaluate and document children's progress and growth through observation, assessments, and progress reports
- Communication: Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to discuss children's progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues (in person, via email, or virtually)
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to develop and implement effective teaching strategies, programs, and activities
- Special needs: Identify and provide support for children with special needs or learning challenges
- Overall, the role of a preschool teacher is to create a nurturing, stimulating, and engaging environment that supports children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
- Reports to the building principal
- Collaborate and cooperate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects;
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records;
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Teach and act per Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
