Maintenance Technician

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain facilities and parish properties with safety as the highest priority. This includes, but is not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, snow removal and other mechanical systems.
  • Assess, schedule and implement solutions for repair and maintenance issues based on staff abilities, budget concerns, timing and priorities.
  • Assist with purchasing and maintaining a cost-effective inventory of lighting and repair supplies. Investigate pricing and obtain bids for significant purchases of equipment, repairs and maintenance contracts.
  • Monitor and ensure proper facilities environment are maintained, including temperature, ventilation and accessibility.
  • Assist vendors and contactors hired to provide maintenance, repairs and inspections.
  • Available and on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
  • Maintain records and logs required for maintenance, insurance, health, safety and code compliance.
  • Communicate with staff regarding facility scheduling and use.
  • Actively participate in Building and Grounds Committee meetings.
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations and inform management of potential risk or hazards.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience / Training Required

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing and able to partake fully in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds. Able to spend 80-90% of work time on your feet doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Basic computer skills including work processing, email, calendaring, digitally controlled systems and operations management software.
  • Show attention to detail and ability to work independently.
