Physical Education Teacher

The Physical Education position will be full days Monday - Thursday.  The teacher will be responsible for teaching grades K4-8th grade and designing innovative lessons that increase the physical well-being of our students.  The teacher will also be responsible for recess duties to assist in monitoring and educating students on cooperative play.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Community

Create a faith-filled environment for learners by:

  • Organizes physical space for learning, e.g., safe, accessible, supports the type of learning, etc.

  • Managing student behavior guided by Gospel values and the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community Employee Policy Handbook

  • Establishes classroom routines, rules, and procedures consistent with school policy

  • Communicates high expectations for learning

  • Creates a faith-filled environment that engages the whole student

 

Works with families as partners in their child’s education by:

  • Provides feedback of student progress to families through ClassDOJO, notes, phone calls, required conferences twice a year, and any additional necessary communication

  • Engages with families as partners in the educational process and the community of the school and church

 

Professional Life as an Educator

Understands school’s mission and his/her role in it by:

  • Serves as a role model for Gospel values for students and families through words and actions

  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor and attitude in alignment with the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community Employee Policy Handbook

 

Reflects on practice by:

  • Takes responsibility for professional growth through goal setting, constructive feedback from Administration and Instructional Coaches

  • Demonstrates a commitment towards spiritual growth in the context of the Catholic school through participation in Prayer, Faith Formation Activities, and Sustaining the Mission

 

Contributes to a positive school environment by:

  • Collaborates with colleagues by supporting the growth of each member of the Blessed Sacrament Community Staff

  • Contributes to the initiatives by analyzing, informing the plan, and being supportive in implementation.

  • Serves beyond the classroom in school committees/activities/events as it relates to a positive school and community environment

 

Planning & Instructional Effectiveness 

Uses best practices to support learning by:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of students by clearly stating instructional outcomes that reflect curriculum expectations for students.  

  • Designs Coherent instruction through development of Unit Plans that have a clearly defined structure and logical supportive activities tied to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s Priority and Supporting Standards

  • Transfers content knowledge to students, through clear directions, procedures, and explanations that are clear and developmentally appropriate. 

  • Promotes learner engagement in an environment that is engaging and aligned to learning needs.

  • Ensures timely completion/submission of all required documentation related to parent communication, instruction, assessment, and grading with communicated deadlines from Administration

  • Supervises students during all student contact times/activities

 

Assessment 

Using assessment to advance student learning by:

  • Uses formal and informal assessment data to design instruction for current and future instruction.

  • Clearly identifies and communicates assessment criteria.

  • Provides opportunities for student self-assessment and monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
    • Ideally a Sports Science or Fitness
  • Education degree preferred, not required
