  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Submit unit lesson plans to Principal, Academic Dean and to Department Chair.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Identify and select various instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development on a continual basis.
  • Assign and grade/assess class work, homework, tests, projects, and assignments.
  • Use rubrics as necessary and provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Update all necessary student records accurately and completely as required by laws, Archdiocese policies, and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior/dress code in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Apply appropriate and effective disciplinary measures where necessary. i.e., cell phone use in class.
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including, but not limited to offering student support, counseling students with academic problems, providing student encouragement, referring students to the Academic Dean or Dean of Students when serious issues arise, and follow mandatory reporting procedures.
  • Encourage participation in extracurricular activities such as social activities, athletic events, clubs, and student organizations.
  • Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, and select parent meetings.
  • Participate in professional development in services/activities/opportunities.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student (or school) needs.
  • Process grades in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their students progress academically and behaviorally.
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area/s, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

 

Work Environment Expectations: All STM employees, coaches and volunteers are expected to comply with the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Parent/Student Handbook, and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Handbook.

 

All STM employees are expected to work positively in collaboration with others in addition to completing other tasks as assigned from time to time by their supervisor/administration.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.
  • State certification.
  • Relevant teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of contemporary, effective pedagogical strategies, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant instructional technology.
  • Model and promote the elements of Catholic Identity including the development of faith community, commitment to lifelong spiritual growth, student spiritual formation, and student human development.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work well/effectively with students.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Conduct all verbal and written communication in a timely, cordial, and professional manner.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with all staff and students.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff as needed.
  • Accept responsibility and display self-motivation.
  • Perform all duties with a high level of accuracy and clarity.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic to achieve department and school-related goals.
  • Display effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Current Knowledge of computers and related technology (Microsoft Office Skills).
  • Strong Problem Solving Skills.
