Itinerary

Monday, May 22:

  • The group arrives to Bogotá at 1:30 PM.
  • Lunch at the airport.
  • The group goes to the parish.
  • Settling in homes.
  • Dinner at the parish.

 

Tuesday, May 23:

  • Tour of Bogotá’s downtown: Santuario de Montserrate. Possibly Mass at 11 AM. Lunch there.
  • Plaza Bolívar.
  • Back to the parish.
  • Evening Masses at 6 PM (Main Church) and 7 PM (San Pablo Chapel).
  • Dinner at the parish.
  • Presentation and discussion about Colombia’s history, sociological reality, ecclesial reality, etc.

 

Wednesday, May 24:

  • 8 AM Meeting and dialogue with the Parish Staff.
  • Visit Casa Garavito Communal Center.
  • Lunch in the parish.
  • Visit Hogar de Jesús.
  • 6 PM Mass.
  • 7 PM Gathering with immigrant families from Venezuela.
  • Dinner at the parish.

 

Thursday, May 25:

  • Morning at the parish: Workshop on the Church in Latin America.
  • Visit Colegio de Colinas.
  • Lunch at the parish.
  • Casa Garavito: Conversation with women at sewing center.
  • 6 PM Mass.
  • 7 PM Ruta del Aguapanela. Walk with the parish youth giving a sandwich and hot tea to homeless people in the parish area (this activity takes place the last Thursday of every month).
  • Simple dinner after the Ruta.

 

Friday, May 26:

  • Day Visit to Zipaquirá -The salt Cathedral, three hours away from the parish. Lunch there.
  • 6 PM Mass.
  • Dinner at the parish.

 

Saturday, May 27:

  • Morning: Meeting with members of parish EPEM (e.g., parish council) and other leaders in the parish, to exchange views and experiences about our parishes in the US vs La Resurrección.
  • Lunch at the parish.
  • Visit Groups in Casa Garavito (English and Art).
  • Bible Study, CCD, Confirmation Groups.
  • 6 PM Mass.
  • Time with Christus Vivit (parish youth group).
  • Dinner at the parish.

 

Sunday May 28:

  • Attend one or two of the Sunday Masses in the morning (7, 8, 10, 11, 12).
  • Lunch at the parish.
  • Visit to Usaquén (touristic area in the North of the city). Dinner there.

 

Monday, May 29:

  • Morning: Visit gravesite of Mary McCormick.
  • Lunch in the city.
  • Afternoon: Packing, getting ready to travel.
  • Dinner and final reflection at the parish.

 

Tuesday, May 30:

  • Flight back to Milwaukee. 2:10 PM.
