Summary

Three Holy Women Parish is seeking a full time Director of Liturgy and Music serving Three Holy Women Parish and supporting a liturgy associate serving Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish. The director would also work closely with joint/shared staff at Ss. Peter & Paul and Old St. Mary parishes, who are part of the “Family of Four Parishes” on the east side of Milwaukee. We are looking for someone with a collaborative spirit, experience in music ministry and strong organ and piano skills. 

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in music or its equivalent. Knowledge in Catholic liturgy (or a willingness to learn) and the various styles of ritual music and choral repertoire is necessary. Proficiency in organ and piano and vocal and directing skills for the choir along with the training of cantors and the ability to collaborate with staff and parishioners is also a necessity.   

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan hymns, psalms settings and service music for parish and create orders of worship (we do not have hymnals).
• Communicate planning sheets as well as other information with cantors and other organists.
• Schedule cantors and organists for weekly Masses.
• Serve as the parish contact for wedding couples and funeral families to select music, readings, etc. Play for funerals and weddings, schedule cantors, and create orders of worship for those Masses.
• Direct and rehearse with parish choir on a weekly basis to sing at one weekend Mass (usually rotate to a different site each week).
• Oversee scheduling of liturgical ministers (lectors, ushers and eucharistic ministers) and recruit and form new members in collaboration with the priests.
• Collaborate with directors of liturgy and music serving in the Family of Four Parishes for combined multi-parish services such as Taizé Prayer, All Souls Day Vespers, reconciliation services, and Triduum.
• Submit payroll for all outside professional musicians and oversee and prepare a yearly budget.
• Oversee the maintenance of parish owned instruments (organs and pianos).

Three Holy Women Parish is a vibrant singing community with well-maintained instruments at each church (organ and piano at Holy Rosary, Holtkamp pipe organ and Yamaha piano at St. Hedwig, and Yamaha piano at St. Rita).
