Director of Children’s Faith Formation
Southern Moraine Catholic Parishes
The Southern Moraine Catholic Parishes are seeking a faith-filled Director of Children’s Faith Formation to lead and grow our K–6 faith formation ministry. This position plays an important role in helping children and families encounter Christ, grow in discipleship, and become active participants in parish life.
The Director of Children’s Faith Formation oversees the parish Children’s Formation program and collaborates closely with clergy, parish staff, the Director of Religious Education, catechists, volunteers, and families to create engaging and meaningful opportunities for faith development and sacramental preparation.
We are seeking someone who approaches ministry as a calling and demonstrates a commitment to Catholic teaching.
Responsibilities Include
- Leading and overseeing the Children’s Faith Formation program for grades K–6
- Preparing, supporting, training, and communicating with catechists regarding curriculum implementation
- Coordinating Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in collaboration with catechists, volunteers, families, and parish staff
- Developing and organizing curriculum materials and faith formation resources
- Planning and sustaining monthly Family Day gatherings that include prayer, catechesis, guest speakers, and community-building activities
- Collaborating with parish leadership and the Faith Formation Committee (FFC)
- Supporting compliance with diocesan Safe Environment policies and implementation of the Circle of Grace curriculum
- Maintaining records related to registration, attendance, budgets, and payments using PDS parish software
- Teaching and substituting in classes as needed
- Assisting with parish faith formation events and other ministry responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff, volunteers, children, and families
- Experience in catechesis, education, ministry, or children’s faith formation preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, Religious Education, Education, Pastoral Ministry, or related field preferred
- Ability to lead volunteers and foster a welcoming, faith-filled environment
- Proficiency with technology and willingness to learn parish software systems
Position Details
This position may require evening and occasional weekend hours during the faith formation year and sacramental seasons.
This position is part-time.
