Primary Job Function

Collaborates with the Pastor, under his supervision, and with other members of the parish staff, integrating responsibility for adult and youth formation programs.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing the High School Confirmation preparation process; recruit, train, and support volunteers and catechists.
  • Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing the OCIA process for both adults and children; recruit, train, and support volunteers and co-leaders.
  • Plan and participate in youth ministry activities, such as retreats, service projects, mission opportunities, and special events.
  • Collaborate with the Child/Early Adolescent Formation Minister to provide programming.
  • Lead the Christian Formation Committee to ensure quality parish programming.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained for catechists, children, and families.
  • Direct the work of religious education professionals and support staff, ensuring proper training.
  • Maintain department budgets for Adult Ministry and Youth Ministry.
  • Contribute to the overall mission and pastoral life of the parish.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Minimum Education / Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing and able to fully participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Able to articulate the philosophy and theology underlying the parish religious education program.
  • Able to guide the catechetical staff in the systematic assessment of the catechetical needs of the parish.
  • Highly motivated and passionate about inspiring youth and adults.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
