Position Summary

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish is seeking a passionate and organized Director of Youth Ministry to lead, develop, and expand ministry for middle school, high school, confirmation candidates, and young adults. This role is central to fostering a dynamic environment rooted in Catholic teaching, where youth grow in discipleship, leadership, prayer, and community. The Director oversees all formation sessions, events, retreats, communication, volunteer leadership, and faith-based outreach efforts for grades 6–12 and young adults aged 18–29.

Key Responsibilities


Youth Formation & Confirmation (Grades 6–12)
•    Plan and lead Sunday and Monday Disciple Formation sessions for middle and high school students, including lesson design, materials, and facilitation.
•    Organize and execute Confirmation formation: content development, candidate tracking, sponsor coordination, retreat planning, and Mass preparation.
•    Personalize lessons based on spiritual, emotional, and cultural needs of youth; integrate Archdiocesan Circle of Grace.
•    Maintain program registrations, attendance, and youth engagement metrics.
Events, Retreats & Activities
•    Design and implement annual calendar of youth ministry events, including service projects, prayer nights, recreational gatherings, Bible studies, retreats, and trips (e.g., NCYC, Kalahari, Six Flags).
•    Collaborate with staff on parish-wide events (e.g., Pentecost Party, Advent/Lenten events).
•    Lead event logistics: date setting, promotion, set-up, volunteer coordination, food, and follow-up summaries.
Small Group Leadership
•    Recruit, train, support, and mentor a team of adult small group leaders.
•    Facilitate leader formation nights, appreciation dinners, Safe Environment and Archdiocesan certification.
•    Create materials and guidance for ongoing leader spiritual growth.
Communications & Media
•    Manage youth and parent communication via Flocknote, email, text, and social media.
•    Create flyers, promotional materials, lesson resources, registration forms, and content using tools like Canva, Jotform, Bitly, and WeShare.
•    Share youth ministry highlights in bulletins, parish newsletters, and parish website.
Young Adult Ministry (Ages 18–29)
•    Coordinate small group Bible studies, off-campus gatherings, and faith development resources for young adults.
•    Foster relationships and promote young adult participation in parish and Archdiocesan opportunities.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
•    Attend weekly staff meetings and DFT (Disciple Formation Team) meetings.
•    Manage youth ministry budget and submit related receipts and check requests.
•    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in Catholic youth ministry; attend diocesan workshops and conferences.
 

Qualifications


•    Practicing Roman Catholic with a deep personal relationship with Christ and active sacramental life.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, Youth Ministry, or related field (Master’s preferred).
•    Minimum 2–3 years of experience in youth ministry or parish leadership.
•    Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, and values, with an ability to convey them in creative and relevant ways.
•    Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•    Proficiency with technology and digital platforms: Canva, Jotform, WeShare, SignUpGenius, Bitly, Google Suite, and Flocknote.
•    Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for retreats and events as required.
•    Completion of Safe Environment Training and valid Archdiocesan driving certification.
