Job Summary:

The Discipleship Coordinator will help to build a culture of evangelization at St. Francis Borgia by overseeing adult formation and outreach of the parish. This vital work will include supporting existing parishioner-led formation opportunities. In addition, the Discipleship Coordinator will form and execute a mission driven plan to train parishioners to help others deepen their friendship with Christ through the life of the Church.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

K: Knowledge

  1. Strongly prefer a bachelor’s degree in theology, related field, or equivalent ministry experience
  2. Must have a broad understanding of and ability to articulate Church teaching
  3. Some knowledge of parish structures and ministry

Skills

  1. Strong verbal and written communications skills
  2. Strong organizational skills
  3. Strong interpersonal skills
  4. Able to articulate their relationship with Jesus to others

Abilities 

  1. Able to multitask and prioritize

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Oversees OCIA leaders and ensures that proper communication is managed  for the upcoming sessions
  • Assists ministry leaders with schedules, booking, set-up requests
  • Maintains the annual budget for the adult ministries
  • Promotes ministries through parish communications and social media
  • Establishes an annual plan for adult formation opportunities in the parish which would include Entryway Ministries, Formation Ministries, and Training Ministries
  • Keeps close track of candidates for small group leader training, those who have been trained, and small groups that are operating

Ministerial:

  • Uses Reach More or an equivalent missionary training resource to recruit, train, and support parishioners to live out Jesus’s Great Commission in their own life
  • Mentors parishioners in the life of prayer, Sacraments, and Scripture
  • Creates frequent opportunities to articulate a vision for evangelization and discipleship to parishioners in written and oral communication, in both small and large group settings
  • Works with the Adoration Committee on ways of bringing more people to encounter Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration

ADA Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach with hands and arms
  • Close vision required for paperwork and computer
  • Able to utilize computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone
  • This role functions in an office environment and uses standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
