St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is seeking a Pastoral Associate to join our collaborative, upbeat staff within our vibrant faith community.

The Pastoral Associate / Minister functions as an integral member of the parish staff, sharing the responsibility of the needs assessment, decision making, planning and implementation of parish ministries and various operations.  This position is mainly a generalist position working at the direction of the pastor in response to the spiritual, pastoral, and educational needs of the parish. This position involves working closely with all members of the parish staff.  This position also requires the ability to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve unique matters that occur in parish life. Strategic planning and visionary thinking is an integral part of this position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Baptism (Formation, Coordination, Scheduling, etc.)
  • OCIA (lead Minister of OCIA, coordinating and implementing all efforts of ministry including Leading retreats, creating catechetical content, overseeing the Rites and ensuring all procedure and protocols are followed)
  • Coordination of Discipleship Formation Team (Schedules and Content)
  • All aspects of Adult Formation Ministry/ Evangelization
  • Formation and Coordination of Faith Sharing including creating content for bible studies/ Bible Study Small Groups
  • Lead contributor for Parish Bulletin and any other Adult formation content
  • Resource/contact for various ministries, including but not limited to Pastoral Council, Parish Outreach, and Human Concerns.
  • Provides support and guidance for individuals and families in times of crisis and spiritual support for individuals and groups through ministry programs.
  • Network with local community resources for various ministries
  • Help to oversee the Reconnect Ministry for home visits
  • Help fulfill the pastoral needs of homebound, hospitalized, and nursing home patients
  • Assist the Pastor or Pastoral Coordinator in developing social consciousness among the staff and parishioners and respond to the needs of the poor and victimized, local, national, global mission
  • Lead communal prayers, communion services, and ecumenical gatherings when needed and liturgically appropriate (Advent and Lent)

Qualifications

  • Desires a continually developing prayer life and a strong desire to “Follow Jesus and Serve Others.”
  • MA in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or Religious Studies (or equivalency) experience.
  • Experience relating to parishioners and faith sharing.
  • Understanding of Church Structure, church teachings, basic aspects of liturgy, and has a working knowledge of Catholic Theology that can be translated into practical applications.
  • Maintain the strictest form of confidentiality in all areas of the parish.

Skills and Abilities

  • Continually trains, spiritually supports, and sustains pastoral staff and parishioners (disciples) in pastoral ministry.
  • Present at liturgies and events and make connections to strengthen the unity of the parish through a wide variety of parish events.
  • Ability to oversee opportunities of other ministry leaders to connect all members of the faith community to live a life that is centered in Christ, that “Follows Jesus and Serves Others.”
